      SUNDAY BULLETIN

  ANNOUNCEMENTS

                               ANNOUNCEMENTS

Notes on music. On the seventh Sunday of the Easter season
we traditionally observe the Ascension of Christ, which actually
occurs on the preceding Thursday, the 40th day after the
Resurrection. Several of our hymns mark the occasion.

As spring blooms around us, the choir sings David Schwoebel’s
contemporary setting of the words to hymn 291, “All good gifts
around us are sent from heaven above.” While we often associate
this hymn with harvest time and Thanksgiving, the words are
certainly appropriate when many of us are busy getting our lawns
and gardens in order. More importantly, the outburst of new
life all around us is symbolic of the Resurrection and God’s love
for us. Schwoebel sets the verses in a light, popular style, while
the chorus becomes a soaring chorale.

United Thank Offering (UTO) Spring Ingathering is today.   If
you forgot to bring your blue box today you may bring it to church
 next Sunday.

ECW Bake Sale will be held this morning after the 10:00 service.

everyone.  The performance has been in development all

effects, ten plagues, accents and neato set pieces.  May 11th's
service will be in Hudson Hall to make room for all the
awesomeness.

UNITED THANK OFFERING PRAYER

Gracious God, source of all creation, all love, all true joy:
accept, we pray, these outward signs of our profound and
continuing thankfulnessfor all of life.  Keep each of us ever
