During the Last Supper, Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment (mandatum in Latin, which is where Maundy comes from) - that they should love one another. They shared a meal together which is the basis for our celebration of holy communion. And Jesus washed his disciples' feet. We'll remember this night in two ways:
At 6:00 PM, we'll gather in Hudson Hall for a potluck Agapé meal (agapé is Greek for love) which is similar to how the earliest Christians celebrated holy communion. At 7:30 PM, we'll proceed to the sanctuary for a worship service that recalls all the elements of this fateful night which culminates with Jesus' betrayal and arrest in the garden of Gethsemane.
You are welcome to attend either dinner or worship or both dinner and worship. You can join worship in person or on Zoom.
