“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Giving At St. Thomas
Make a Pledge
St Thomas is 100% self-supporting. Pledges make up more than 80% of our annual budget. During October and November, we ask each parishioner to make a commitment to St. Thomas for the coming year. This non-binding pledge will allow the Vestry to create a balanced budget
Make a Donation of Stock
We accept donations of stocks and/or securities. To donate stocks or securities, please contact our Parish Administrator Rishabh and he will send you the instructions for making the transfer to our account.
Make a Donation to the St. Thomas Endowment
The Endowment Fund was established in 2009 to provide a permanently invested growth and development fund for St. Thomas. Income from the Fund provides both for the long term needs of the church and for programs not related to ongoing monthly expenses. The General Endowment Fund is invested in a mix of Fidelity broad-based stock and bond index funds.
Need more information on the various options for giving to the endowment? The Episcopal Church Foundation website (www.episcopalgifts.org) has useful information to get you started. However, you should always check with your financial advisor to determine the right choice for you. A Plan of Organization governs the management of the endowment. For more information or have further questions, please contact endowment@stthomasmcleanva.org
Join the St. Thomas Legacy Society
The Legacy Society was founded in 2021 to recognize and thank individuals who support the future mission of St. Thomas through the Endowment. Anyone who makes a current or planned gift to the Endowment is eligible for membership in the Society. Members names are added to the Legacy Society plaque (unless they choose to remain anonymous) and are invited to participate in an annual gathering.
Time, Talent, and Treasure
Each member of our church lends their time and talents to the life of our congregation. There are so many ways our members share their gifts with us:
- The Flower Guild arranges beautiful flowers each week to decorate our sanctuary, our entryway, and others focal areas of our building.
- The Altar Guild prepares the altar and vessels for worship.
- Lectors read the lessons heard in worship.
- Coffee Hour hosts bring food to share after church each week.
- The Vestry share the fiscal oversight for the life of our congregation.
- Eucharistic Visitors bring communion to home-bound members.
- Teachers and volunteers assist in the faith formation.
